Stripped back to basics, Pilates is a form of exercise with an emphasis on improving core strength, muscle tone, joint mobility, balance and posture. Varying in intensity, classes can be gentle or challenging and also help to relieve stress and tension.
Developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s as a way to rehabilitate injured prisoners of war, Joseph was a strong believer that mental and physical health are closely connected.
Whilst we are grounded by the principles and research of founder Joseph Pilates, Agile Pilates is a studio that believes in exploring what Pilates can mean for you as an individual. All too often we can feel bombarded by what others think we should take from Pilates – so we encourage you to ask yourself what you would like to gain from it. Rather than asking what Pilates is and following it blindly, we hope that with our gentle guidance you can embark on your own personal journey of discovery and growth.
